Since the new XP rate is tied to your “Chopping” status, it will update in the same intervals as your Balance. Every fifteen minutes we’ll see whether or not you’re actively mining, and then award you XP for mining time. Bear in mind, it is possible to earn XP for a 15 minute interval, but not accrue Balance.
You can be actively Chopping but not discover any shares. So you’ll be awarded XP for actively using the app, but it will not correspond directly to Salad Balance. For example, let’s look at this case. Let’s say that our example pool refreshes every ten minutes. During that ten minute window, three users were “Chopping.” Here are their results:
- User A: 3 MH/s = 10 XP
- User B: 25 MH/s = 10 XP
- User C: 0 MH/s = 0 XP
Since the first two users were actively contributing hashpower to the pool, they earn 10 XP (one for each minute during the interval) despite having dramatically different outputs. User B should, ostensibly, earn more Balance, but the XP rate is the same. However, User C was unable to contribute any hashpower for this interval, and therefore does not accrue any XP or Balance.
