1. Open McAfee
This will be the main screen you are presented within McAfee, and is your base of virus-fighting operations.
2. Navigate to settings
To open the settings page of McAfee, select the little gear icon on the upper-right-corner of the app and select "Real-Time Scanning" from the drop down list.
3. Click on "Excluded Files"
After you have clicked on the "Real-Time Scanning" option, a new window will appear. From that window, select the ‘Excluded Files’ option as pictured below.
4. Click on "Add Files"
After clicking on "Excluded Files", click on "Add file" as pictured below.
5. Adding Salad as an Exclusion
After clicking on "Add file", you’ll want to navigate to the Salad plugin-bin folder and select it, the filepath for this is “C:\Users\YOURUSERHERE\AppData\Roaming\Salad\plugin-bin”. Inside this folder, you should see several more folders. These folders are where the miners are stored. Inside each of these folders, you will need to select the .exe file and whitelist them. As McAfee doesn’t support folder exclusion you will need to add every file that has .exe as an exclusion.
6. Click Add
Once you’ve found the Salad plugin-bin folder along with the .exe files and clicked it, hit ‘Open’, and it will bring you back to the main McAfee Exclusion whitelist page with your newly added exclusions. Repeat this process for all remaining files.
7 . Run Salad
Let Salad run for at least 30 minutes after setting up the whitelist. Contact support here if this issue persists.
